I guess I should be grateful I have had no big blow-ups with my family about my lifestyle choice. They are all very supportive. They don't like to talk about it and a crafty in changing the subject

but they never give me a hard time about it. It's funny, I share similarities with my favourite uncle about my being vegan in a meat-eating world and he being gay in butch-macho-straight world.
Dee, my Mum did actually say once (or twice) what's wrong with dairy, and then I tell her and then she just changes the subject. She would never get angry about it. Once she commented that just a little bit of cake won't hurt. "But it does," I said, "It hurts the animals. And if I ate it then I wouldn't be vegan would I?"
