Sometimes I find intro threads to be a little cheesy, but I think that one is definitely in order, here.
In recent posts, a few of the regulars have doubted whether or not people are reading and considering what we post here. At the same time, this little community we have here is such a welcoming and inspiring one. This thread, therefore, is meant to try and dissolve some of that doubt and welcome newcomers.
Every day there are more people joining this board, but very few make posts. Some of the members are not people, but rather they're spam robots, that's fine. Spamming robots, despite the use of the word spam, are vegans (except those that post animal product adverts). But many of you are actual humans.
Well this is your lucky day. I've made an introduction thread, I'm about to introduce myself. I encourage the others here to do the same. I'm genuinely interested in hearing what others have to say. There's only so much of my own rambling that I can take, though admittedly, that threshold is high.
If we plan to really make a difference, we need to fan out and reach more people. What better way to do that than to hear from people who are already listening?
Me:
I'm Mike (still a little paranoid about the full name thing)
I'm a middle/high school teacher (math, technology)
I'm a musician
I'm a motorcycle enthusiast
I live with my partner (girlfriend sounds immature, and lover sounds a little too racy) and her 6-year-old daughter
I'm a vegan of 1.5 years, and I am an animal abolitionist and rights activist.
I run an animal rights club in the high school (one member is on this forum, and should introduce herself), and together we're forging a path in favor of awakenings, clarity, knowledge, and abolition of all oppressed beings.
I make unnecessarily long posts.
There's more to me, but don't be so pushy. We don't even know each other yet.
Mike

I think this is a good idea Mike!
So I shall do the same: (some of this you all may not know)
I'm EdoVegie716
Real Name: Tana
I am female though my screen name suggests otherwise.
I'm a high school student and I attend the high school that Mike teaches at
I'm going into my sophomore year.
I'm in the Animal Rights Club at my school.
I'm becoming a musician.
I love drawing and painting.
I've been a vegetarian for about two years and have been trying to go vegan for about a month.
I only stop by every once an a while, but this forum still means the world to me.
I want to be an animal rights activist.
Peace,
Edo/ Tana

Hi, I'm Su. I'm female, despite what Mike thinks.
I'm a PR writer (I write stuff for PR agencies).
I'm married (for 7 years, together for 13) and live in suburban Los Angeles with an aging rescue cat named Chloë. We're middle aged ourselves, so the cat fits in well.
In my spare time I read lots. I garden, I decorate, I putter around the house. We're into food and wine and dining out. We're "conscious" but not religious. My husband has done healing work in the past and kind of collects gurus and spiritual teachers as a hobby.
My vices include thrift store shopping and a wee bit of a shoe habit.
I've been vegan for several years and vegetarian for longer (close to 20). Diet-wise, I didn't exactly go vegan overnight, but rather in stages, so it's tough to say. Officially maybe four years ago.
I don't consider myself an activist of any kind. I live very mindfully* and that makes an impression on people around me. I do write checks and go to events and things like that, but at my age and lifestyle stage this is the kind of contribution organizations value most from me.
* Except for the shoe thing. If they're cute, not leather, and on sale...I WANT them. But I consider dressing myself stylishly to be part of how I promote a vegan lifestyle.

Jeff and I found one. She's German. We were looking for a therapist who actually was a vegan so she could fully understand our situation! Altho all therapists can still empathise and sort of "get you", not quite the same as an actual vegan. We searched thru the accredited NVC trainers/practicioners.
