Photon, I think you way misread my post - for one thing, the comments I quoted from another board weren't written by me but by other people. They were to give you examples of what I've heard from vegan parents with non-vegan kids. I do not have children, vegan or otherwise. If I were inclined to be a mother, I'd adopt, and rest assured shove veganism down their throat.

You definitely have a point about the illogic of "saving animals by reducing those who care the most," even though it's short-term thinking, not long-term thinking. I just believe there are other reasons for not procreating besides solely saving animals.

Finally, I never said people aren't brainwashed by meat and dairy industry propaganda. On the contrary, I said we all are. Once again, I think you misread me. I don't doubt I have much more to master, career-wise, but I see no reason why you should insult me for it.

Addressing poverty and educating girls 9 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 4
Hi people. This is a repost from a different thread...

Agreed. Population is a big issue. Acknowledge elephant standing in the room.

To address this problem I think we should address the cause. We need to hack at the roots of the problem rather than hack at the leaves and the branches. Ask some important questions: how did the population boom occur in the last 100 years? What countries have more families, which ones have less and why? What is the most ethical method of reducing the population? What can we learn from countries like China that violates human rights in order to achieve its one child policy?

Countries that have less children have more prosperity and more education. Countries that have more children have less prosperity and less education. Addressing poverty and educating girls around the world will do more for population control than China's actions to enforce their one child policy such as: enforced sterilisations of men and women, enforced abortions (no limit -even at 8 months pregnancy), applying crippling life-long unpayable debt to couples with a second child, taking second children away and putting them into impoverished orphanages and selling them on the baby market.

Addressing poverty and increasing education is I believe the most important factor to reducing population. Education campaigns about over-population is also very important because it's never talked about in our society these days, nor in our schools. There are other things that can be done to reduce population, I have mentioned what I believe to be the cause of it.

With love and respect, Desert Girl.

It's free to adopt in the UK - in fact you get £500 per child. The process takes around 18 months, you don't have to be married, you don't have to be rich, you can be overweight and you can be in a same sex relationship too!

Fingers crossed, our two adopted children will be placed with us within the next 6 months.

Tackling poverty and inequality has to be the way forward to address the rising population.

So evolved...... I had no idea it was possible for single and gay people to adopt children in the UK. Too bad most of the U.S. is comprised of primitive white trash, especially away from large cities.

Yeah and you can find them all on Opposing Views! Boy did I cop a beating these last couple of days! When they havn't got anything to argue back with, they just abuse you! And call you every name they can think of! They also seem to be very religious too. Maybe I should go to the sulking page... No wonder I have to take regular breaks from these forum things. It's like a verbal boxing match with a bit of anoymous road rage mixed in!
