Just real quick:

You meant, "apologies", and not excuses, Sammy. The use of the word excuses in this particular context makes it sound like you're being sarcastic or uncaring. There's really no such thing as a "sincere excuse". Stupid English language. Why can't words mean what they're supposed to mean?

True enough, but in that case, using the word "excuse" sounds insincere (or at least disingenuous).

Nothing like a little language barrier and a comical blunder to lighten things up a little, yeah?

Makes me wonder what sorts of errors I made when my Spanish was better than it is.

I do remember an embarrassing incident when I learned the difference between un año and un ano (particularly whilst describing how many I had).
